Honesty and Integrity

I have a question. How would you have reacted in this situation?

I made an online pick-up-in-store purchase at a big box sporting goods store about three weeks ago. It was not a small purchase, about $300. I picked up the item the same day.

About a week later, I started getting emails that I had not yet picked up my order. They did not mark that I had picked up the order in their system. I immediately knew what this meant. I had the opportunity to get a free $300 because if I had just waited, the order would have been refunded to me. After all, I never picked it up.

I was in the store again this week to purchase something else. After I completed the purchase, I walked up to the service counter and told them they forgot to mark my order as "picked up." I had expected more of a thank-you for not ripping the store off, but not much of a reaction from the employee.

How would the rest of you have reacted? Would you have allowed the store's mistake to play out and get a refund, or would you have let them know they screwed up?

In my situation, the first reaction is to have integrity and act honestly. I hope my customer will let me know about my mistake.

Honesty isn’t just telling the truth to others; it’s being truthful with yourself. Integrity isn’t occasional—it’s the daily discipline of aligning actions with values.

Honesty and integrity aren't merely virtues—they are foundational pillars of personal sovereignty and growth. To live as a true warrior each day, one must commit to absolute honesty, especially with oneself. Self-honesty enables clarity, empowers meaningful change, and fosters authentic relationships grounded in trust.

Integrity, the unwavering alignment between one's values and actions, is the essence of strength and character.

We should recognize that every decision, from the smallest daily habits to significant life choices, either strengthens or weakens one's integrity. To live with integrity is to choose consistently what is right over what is easy, even when no one is watching.

Honesty and integrity create a formidable strength that transcends temporary setbacks or shortcuts. They build a reputation that speaks louder than words and attracts people who value truth and accountability. We should strive daily for a life rooted in honesty and integrity. Honesty and integrity are not negotiable—they are the path toward genuine success, fulfillment, and respect.

I would love to know everyone's thoughts on this!
